National Honor Society Qualifications
Adopted 2018-2019 School Year
Students must meet all 10 qualifications:
Scholarship
GPA of 90 or above
Passed all Standardized Testing
Enrolled in one or more weighted honors classes or OnRamps per year – must be in the class both fall and spring semesters
Currently involved in 2 or more extra curricular activities that represent Thorndale ISD. (Athletic Event, FCCLA, FFA(CDE’s, LDE’s and/or SDE’s, or represent Thorndale FFA with an animal or ag mechanics project, One Act Play, UIL Academics, VASE, Band, Principal discretion on all other activities).
Your extracurricular activities must be signed off on and meet your Coaches/ Advisors qualifications.
Character
Attitude towards teachers, students, and others per teacher surveys
(Average of 25 or above on the surveys filled out by the teachers)
Has never been assigned ISS, DAEP, or OSS during the school year they apply for NHS
Three or less unexcused absences per semester for any period
(Three tardies per semester equals one unexcused absence)
Completed application submitted by due date
Leadership
Holds or held at least one leadership position
You must have a letter of recommendation to go along with your leadership position. This letter should be from someone who supervised your leadership role.
Service
Has participated in 20 hours of volunteer community service during the past calendar year.(For example April 2012 –March 2013)
