Volume 1, Issue 15: 5/10/24

Greetings Bulldogs! Happy Friday.

Thorndale ISD 2024 Bond Election Update:

In case you missed the social media announcement, here are the results of the TISD Bond Election:

As the graphic mentions, the votes are unofficial until canvassing occurs at the Tuesday, May 14th TISD Board meeting. However, of the nearly 600 votes, the unofficial results show 78.09% of votes were in favor of the bond!

That is OVERWHELMING support for the bond and the projects outlined in the plan. I cannot thank the community of Thorndale enough for the support.

We are now working with our project managers, architect, and financial advisors to solidify a timeline and begin the programming and design phases that occur after a bond is officially passed.

Be on the lookout for updates in the near future!

I am excited about the future of these projects and the opportunities they will provide the students of TISD.

Teacher Appreciation Week:

Thorndale ISD is super blessed to have so many amazing teachers who go the extra mile for our students every day! This week I really appreciated seeing all of the celebrations that were done for our folks at each campus in addition to what the central office had planned for them each day.

It is becoming harder and harder to find great teachers, and we want to make sure all of the ones we have at TISD know how much we appreciate them!

School Lunch Hero Day & Principals Day:

In addition to celebrating our teachers, we recently finished celebrating our amazing cafeteria staff led by Jeni Anders for School Lunch Hero Day, our 3 awesome principals for Principal Appreciation Day, and our amazing Nurse Sara Sanders for Nurses Day.

These folks are often not the first person you see, but behind the scenes, they are essential to a school's ability to function!

FYI - Elementary Field Day:

TES Field Day is Friday, May 17th from 8:15-11:00 am at Bulldog Stadium.

All visitors MUST check in and have a visitors badge to enter the stadium. Entrance will be at the home side ticket office. Complete the form below if you have had your driver's license scanned previously by the district and will be attending the TES Field Day on Friday, May 17th. If you check in Monday-Thursday then your badge may be picked up at the main entrance of the Football stadium starting at 7:45 am on Friday.

If you have NOT had your driver's license scanned at a TISD office yet this school year please make sure you check in at one of the TISD offices between Monday - Friday prior to field day.

TISD Student Shout Outs:

If you are not able to keep up with us on Facebook, I would hate for you to miss out on all the celebrations! I can’t possibly capture them all in my Blog that comes out every two weeks, but let me give you a glimpse of just a sliver of the excellence here in TISD:

TISD Tennis Advances to Regionals:

  • Landin & Hestin Ellington - Mixed Doubles

  • Ethan & Garrett Schramm - Boys Doubles

  • Katelynn Zrubek - Girls Singles

TISD Softball Playoffs:

The girls took on Thrall in the 3rd round of the playoffs after beating Mason in round 1 and Snook in round 2. The girls won both games to earn a place in round 4! Stay tuned for updates.

TISD Baseball Playoffs

The boys won their first-round game against Junction convincingly and then won both games against Burton last night. This has earned them a spot in round 3! Stay tuned for updates.

Thorndale ISD Track & Field (STATE CHAMPION)!

Carson McCoy - State Champion in the AA 200 Meter Dash

The Bulldog 4x1 had tough luck with an injury knocking them out of contention for the podium. These guys were running great and we are proud of them.

Everton White ran the best time of his life to finish 4th in the class AA 100 and Carson McCoy is your AA State runner-up (2nd place) in the same event.

Bethany Preusse is the 2A Silver Medalist (2nd place) in the Discus and 8th place in the state in the Shot Put.

TISD HS Art Students at Vase:

Gaven Lanahan and Kyla Daniell received a distinguished medal for their work at State VASE!

TISD UIL Academics Completed Regionals:

UIL Academic regional qualifiers participate at the regional meet in Corpus Christi and Isabella Roberson placed 5th in headline writing and is a state alternate!

Senior Kaden Kovar - All State All-Star Baseball Selection!

Congratulations to Kaden Kovar for being selected to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association’s All-State All-Star game!

If you are keeping track, Kaden has been asked to play in BOTH the basketball and baseball all-star games!!!

TISD Student Assistants of the Year Recognition:

Two of our student assistants were recently recognized by TABC for their achievement as athletic assistants. It goes without saying that these two gentlemen, and all of our amazing trainers, managers, and student assistants are invaluable to our teams and our coaches. They devote countless hours to support our programs and do NOT go unnoticed. Thank you gentlemen!

  • Landin Ellington

  • Aiden McRae

Kudos to our Elementary AR Readers!
AR readers earned a field trip to Barnes and Noble and Gatti’s Pizza today. K-2 students read at least 100 points and grades 3-5 read 200.
